Since 1996, I started as a fine artist and I have exhibited a body of works, based on video and photography. After having studied in Le Fresnoy, Studio National des Arts Contemporains, in 2002-03, I have developed art-science projects, and experimental cinematic prototypes, by the use of technology and the partnership of many scientific collaborations. These innovative prototypes, called "Living cinema" and "Emotive cinema", are purposals for creating live interactions between the performers or the spectators and a fiction film, changing its lightness, speed, music, colouring or its editing in real time.
The subjects of my fictions are about the invisible forces that drive our desires, like a mysterious spot of light which manipulates the characters' bodies in the films « Les histoires de la tache 1 and 2 », like the bodies entering a trance while listening to the traditional music of the living cinema project « Tarentella », or like the body of "Miss Paradis", pilot of Emotive Cinema prototype, being cured by the magnetic waves of Doctor Franz-Anton Mesmer in the 18n century.
My most known projects are art-science prototypes of neuro-emotive films, using EEGs to analyse viewers' emotions. In this process, which has also become an academic research, I am interested to give light to the invisible activity of the viewers watching a film. For these long-lasting projects, EMOTIVE CINEMA (V1 in 2014 and V2 in 2024) and EMOTIVE VR CINEMA (2017-2024) which combines EEG and VR headsets, I have collaborated with a number of scientific partners, gave many communications, published many articles and showed the works in many places.
My works have been exhibited in France and abroad in numerous galleries and museums since 1996, like Espace Paul Ricard, Palais de Tokyo, Jeu de Paume, Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, State Painting and Sculpture Museum, Turkey, Museo Alejandro Otero, Caracas, Venezuela, Emory University, Atlanta, USA, Ludwig Forum Museum, Aachen, Germany, Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Kunsthalle, Basel, Switzerland, Galerie Anton Weller Paris, Deweer Art Gallery, Belgium, Gegenwartskunst Museum, Basel, Switzerland… My films have been selected in some major international festivals (Locarno International Film Festival 2002, Switzerland, and Mostra de São Paulo, Brazil, 2006 ) and international digital and VR festivals, Laval Virtual, Vidéoformes Clermont-Ferrand, Ars Numerica Montbéliard, Lost and found De WAAG, Institute for Old and New Medias, Amsterdam...
